Planning Investigations

Enforcement of compliance of land use planning laws

Council takes its role as an enforcer of the Hume Planning Scheme very seriously and thoroughly investigates reported breaches of the Planning Scheme. Statutory Planning staff are also responsible for preparing planning infringement notices and summonses or briefs for prosecution resulting from breaches of the Hume Planning Scheme.

Industrial Precinct Enhancement Program (IPEP)

Hume's Industrial Precinct Enhancement Program (IPEP) is an ongoing project that aims to enhance the appearance and image of the City's industrial areas, and the City as a whole.

The program involves the integration of physical works, such as street sweeping, street tree planting, maintenance of nature strips and litter pick ups, with planning enforcement. The core component of the program is the use of a dedicated planning enforcement team to assist in improving the appearance of the properties in these areas, and complementing the associated physical works.

The end result is a highly successful program which has seen a dramatic improvement in the appearance of Hume's industrial areas and the development of successful partnerships between Council and local business owners.

To find out more about IPEP contact Council's Senior Planning Investigation Officer on 9205 2200.
