Why develop a Master Plan for Craigieburn Gardens?

Council is developing a Master Plan for Craigieburn Gardens to guide future development, use and management of facilities across the precinct to respond to our changing and growing community’s needs.

Facilities across the study area will change significantly over the next five years with the proposed development of the regional level aquatic and leisure facility, subject to Council consideration and approval, and soccer and athletics venue adjacent the Craigieburn Town Centre site.

The Hume Global Learning Centre Craigieburn is due to open in April 2012, resulting in the Craigieburn Library and Customer Service Centre relocating from the Craigieburn Gardens precinct. These vacated buildings will be soon filled by community service providers subject to a tender process.

How is the Master Plan being developed?

The preparation of the draft Master Plan is the result of significant community input including resident surveys, workshops, interviews, community ‘walk and talk’ meeting and drawings from local school students.

Stakeholders including Melbourne Water, Merri Creek Management Committee, Craigieburn Basketball Association, Craigieburn State Emergency Service, Victoria Police, Dianella Community Health, Craigieburn Residents’ Association, Craigieburn Community Renewal Working Group and Brotherhood of St Laurence are amongst the many organisations who have been involved in the development of the Master Plan.

Feedback from recent consultation on the draft Master Plan is currently being considered in the preparation of the final Plan.

It is anticipated the final Plan will be considered by Council for adoption in late May 2012.
