Learn to Swim - Infant Aquatics

This introductory program provides an opportunity for infants to experience water in a safe and enjoyable way. The focus on water familiarisation introduces them to the excitement of water activity. At the same time it develops their confidence, exploration and independence.

Parents are involved in the lesson through fun games and singing songs as they experience a wide range of basic aquatic skills. It should be a positive influence on their outlook on aquatic and physical activities for the rest of their life.

Learn to Swim and Survive

The Royal Life Saving Society's Swim and Survive Program provides a broad, balanced program of swimming, water safety and survival skills. The program prepares children of all abilities for a lifetime of safe activity in, on or near the water.

Early levels aim to build confidence and respect for the water, while higher levels expose them to increased difficulty within aquatic environments. Colourful certificates reward children for the many developmental steps that they will take in learning to Swim and survive.

Swimming Squad

Designed to develop stroke technique and fitness, students also learn to improve speed and stamina along with the social and/or competitive aspects of swimming.

Our coaches use programs that maintain interest and enthusiasm while also developing talent and skill. Ideal if you want your child to become a stronger swimmer or enter a competitive swimming program.

Bronze Medallion

The Bronze Medallion has been in operation for over 100 years with many Australians undertaking the program since commencement. It teaches the four elements of lifesaving and water rescue: judgement, knowledge, skills and fitness.

The program focuses on developing the participants' survival and rescue skills. It helps them make the right survival decisions that may assist them or others survive an aquatic emergency. Participants will learn rescue methods and personal survival skills for difficult rescues and develop stroke efficiency and endurance. This program is only available at the Craigieburn Leisure Centre.

Lap Swimming

Our swimming pools offer lap lanes for visitors to undertake continuous swimming. Depending on availability, lane use is available for rehabilitative requirements. Lap lane availability timetables are available which provide information as to the most suitable times for lap swimming and aqua play.

Aqua Aerobics

The low-impact style of classes work to increase strength and muscle tone, reduce weight and improve general fitness. Ideal for older adults, pre/post natal women or anyone wanting to benefit from non-weight bearing fitness.

Please note: not all programs are available at all centres.
