Playgrounds in Hume

We have a range of fun and engaging playgrounds available throughout Hume. Take the family along and check them out. These include:

Johnstone Street Reserve Playground, Johnstone Street, Broadmeadows - New Flying Fox

This playground includes a wave bridge, a fireman's pole, two different styles of slides, a see-saw, a double swing frame and a new footpath. The reserve also features two BBQ’s, one large shelter and four picnic settings and seating, a Skate Park and BMX track and most recently a new Flying Fox. The Flying Fox has a double cable system with two pommel seats. The take off and landing area has been designed to allow wheel chair access for children and adults and a soon to be installed Access For All chair. In addition, a new multiple basketball court is under construction and will soon to be open for use. (Melway Ref 6 F8)

Jack Roper Reserve, 217 Camp Road, Broadmeadows

Includes three playgrounds with a Liberty swing, BBQ and public toilets. (Ref 7 B10)

Progress Reserve, 28 Bushfield Crescent, Coolaroo

Includes two playgrounds and BBQ but no public toilets. (Ref 7 A2)

Craigieburn Bicentennial Park, 235 Craigieburn Road West, Craigieburn

Includes a playground with swings, BBQ and public toilets. (Ref 386 H9)

Centennial Park Drive Reserve, 1 Centennial Park Drive, Craigieburn

Includes a playground and BBQ but no public toilets. (Ref 386 G5)

Barrymore Road Recreation Reserve, 29 Barrymore Road, Greenvale

Includes playground with swings and BBQ but no public toilets except in the recreation centre itself. (Ref 179 B11)

Lightwood Crescent Reserve Playground, 72 Lightwood Crescent, Meadow Heights

Includes a vertical ladder, net crossing, rock climber, a hammock, a curved slide, a spinner bowl, a crazy rocker, a space net, a double swing frame and a basketball tower. (Ref 179 F10)

Visy Learning Centre, Hudson Circuit, Meadow Heights - New Playspace

A new playspace has been installed to the value of $160,000 additional landscape works and fencing has taken this improvement to $200,000. The playspace is a multi age Access For All design allowing wheel chair access so all children can join in the fun. It includes a fort structure with slides, various activity panels, climbing wall, spinner barrel, rockers, climbing rope, tower swings and for the older kids a new soccer/basketball area on a half court. The playspace is surrounded by new landscaping and grassed areas including new parks furniture and fencing.

Ruthven Street Reserve Playground, 18 Ruthven Street, Sunbury

Includes a colourful artwork panel, a hang 'n' glide, a climbing structure, a swing frame, and a new picnic table with shelter. (Ref 382 D2)

Scullin Court Reserve Playground, 15 Gowrie Court, Sunbury

Includes a cave bridge, a climber, a suspension bridge, jungle bars, a gyro spinner, a swing frame, new park furniture and a basketball tower. (Ref 362 D11)

McEwen Drive Reserve Playground, 21 McEwen Drive, Sunbury

Includes a net climber, voice tubes, hanging rings, a see-saw, and a double frame swing. (Ref 362 E12) 

Apex Park, Sunbury Road, Sunbury

Includes a playground with swings, BBQ and public toilets. (Ref 382 G5)

Rotary Park, Ligar Street, Sunbury

A new Access For All playground has been installed replacing an old play unit. This site incorporates new materials and designs that encourage group play activities with rubber path works allowing wheel chairs easy access. Play equipment includes the first swing basket allowing up to three children to ride at once or a child and a carer. A new inverted Super Nova spinning wheel allows great group play. New pathways through the park allow better entry and access. Currently two new shelters are being installed with additional picnic settings and seating with additional BBQ’S as well. In July new gardens will be installed to complete this major improvement to the Sunbury Rotary Park located beside Clark Oval. Toilets are available over the bridge towards the Sunbury Leisure and Aquatic Centre 80m away.

Galaxy Land Jackson Park, 1-25 Betula Terrace, Sunbury

Includes a playground with swings and BBQ. Galaxy Land has recently had a public toilet added amongst pleasant formal gardens and natural wetlands. (Ref 382 C8)

Fisher Grove Reserve Playground, 32 Fisher Grove, Tullamarine

Includes an alphabet and times table activity panel, an interactive gear panel and a rock wall, a climbing panel, a relax rocker, new footpaths and new furniture. (Ref 15 G2)

Highgate Playground, Highgate Recreation Reserve, Cleveland Drive, Craigieburn.

The playground includes state-of-the-art equipment and is designed not only for the kids, but for adults too. Why not try the slippery dip or flex some arm muscle on the monkey bars and climbing frame? The landscaping works include gravel and crushed rock paths, Kikuyu grass and a range of native and exotic plants to create a calming rustle in the Highlands breeze. Accessible Playgrounds in Hume

Playgrounds provide wonderful opportunities for children to be physically active, interact with other children and learn skills such as cooperation, socialising and playing independently. Features include accessible swings and other play equipment, continuous pathways, accessible entries to playgrounds and parking close by. Many of the parks also have play equipment for a range of ages, and other recreation opportunities nearby such as ovals, half court basketball rings and tennis courts.
