Active Craigieburn Project
Active Craigieburn Leaps Ahead
The Active Craigieburn Project is a three year project funded by Vic Health to promote awareness and provide opportunities for participation in sport and active recreation for Craigieburn Residents. The project is a partnership between Hume City Council and Dianella Community Health.
The Active Craigieburn Project is underway with 2000 Craigieburn households receiving a resident survey in relation to sport and active recreation late last year. The survey was also made available online to residents. The information gathered from this survey will be used to provide opportunities for increased participation in sport and active recreation in the next two years of the project.
This is an exciting project and it is hoped that Craigieburn residents will be actively involved in the project via representation on working groups, participation at organised events and involvement in community training programs. Community training will be provided to interested community members to ensure that any new opportunities for participation in sport and active recreation are sustainable beyond the Vic Health funding period.
If you would like further information about the Active Craigieburn Project please contact our Active Craigieburn Project Officer on 9205 2200.

Craigieburn Community Walking Groups
Walking is a simple activity that brings many benefits to people and communities. Walking creates healthier, happier individuals, more liveable environments, reduces pressure on our transport system and builds our sense of community. Regular walking will improve your overall health and fitness. Just 30 minutes a day can increase cardiovascular fitness, bone strength and muscle power. It can also help to prevent heart disease, stroke, type two diabetes, colon cancer, osteoporosis, depression and lower back pain.
