Rates Payments
The fourth rates instalment is due on 31 May 2013.
How do I pay my rates?
Hume City Council allows the payment of rates via a number of payment methods, which are listed on the back of your rates notice, and include:
Note: if you are paying by Direct Debit, payments can only be made from savings or cheque accounts, and only when previous rate instalments have been fully paid. Direct debit payment can be made in four or nine instalments. Applications close five days prior to each due date.
*If you are paying by telephone, payments can be made using your credit card by calling 13 18 16 (Australia Post).
*If you are paying by mail it is important to detach the bottom portion of your rate notice and forward it along with your cheque or money order made out to Hume City Council.
What happens if I pay my rates late?
When you are issued with a rate notice you should make sure you give it prompt attention. If an instalment is not paid on or before the due date, interest will accrue on the overdue amounts. For the financial year 2012/13 this percentage is set at 10.5 percent per annum under the Penalty Interest Rate Act 1983.
