Community Transport & Bus Hire

We provide a Community Transport Service (bus) which is available to eligible frail, elderly and people with disabilities.

Am I Eligible?

If you are unable to access public or private transport and have been assessed as eligible you can receive transport from your home to local shops, recreational outings or senior citizens clubs. Drivers can assist passengers on and off the bus as needed.

Wheelchair access is available.

Hume's home and community support services provide a range of services to eligible residents who are frail older people, people with disabilities and carers. For further information and to find out your eligibility contact our Aged and Disability Services Intake Officer on 9205 2839.

Craigieburn Community Transport Service

The Craigieburn Community Transport Service is available for residents of Craigieburn who experience transport difficulties in getting out and about. The service can be used to help you get to medical appointments, social and recreational activities, the railway station and other public transport, childcare and employment and training opportunities. There are no set fees but we ask that you support the service with a gold coin donation. Trips may be regular or one-off journeys but all trips must be booked in advance. To make a booking or for more information call Jane Finlayson on 8339 4860 or email jfinlayson@lct.org.au

Do I Need a Special Driver's License to Operate a Community Bus?

A full driver's license is all that is required for driving a community bus.

What Charges are Involved in Hiring a Community Bus?

There is a hire fee and a bond is also charged, for further details call us on 9205 2200. The bond for hire of the bus will be held for three months to ensure that any Citylink usage and other infringements can be addressed prior to the bond being returned.

Does the Bus Come with a Citylink Pass?

The bus does not come with a Citylink pass. If travelling on Citylink then the hirer will need to organise a day pass.

Where Can I Take a Bus?

The bus is allowed anywhere within Victoria with the exception of the snow fields during winter.

What Am I Required to do When Returning the Bus?

The bus must be returned with a full tank of fuel and must be clean. Fees for returning the bus without a full tank of fuel or in a dirty condition will apply. Should the vehicle become damaged while in your possession, you will be required to complete insurance documentation as provided by council. Your bond will not be returned until the documentation is complete.

How Many People Will Fit on the Bus?
