Our Meals on Wheels Food Services are available to those people who are nutritionally at risk and are unable to prepare regular meals as a result of fragility or sickness.
Meals on Wheels
We deliver fresh and nutritous 3 course meals to your home. These meals are delivered cold to be reheated later at your convenience; meals are available Monday - Friday. Meals for Saturday and Sunday are available and delivered on Friday's.
Delivered Meals operates on a 4 week menu, Menu choices are over 7 days on a 4 week cycle. Menu choices change every 3 months according to seasons.
The menu provides extensive daily choices to suit all taste and dietary requirements and ethnic meals (i.e. Halal)
Meals will be delivered between 9.30am and 12.30pm, you must be home to receive your meal. Please cancel your meal if you are not going to be home.
If Meals staff cannot raise you at home, they will follow an emergency procedure to ensure you're safe.
Opportunities exist for volunteer work within our Meals on Wheels program. As a Deliver Meals Volunteer you will help deliver prepared meals to Hume residents who are frail, aged or with disabilities.

Centre Based Meal Program
The Centre Based Meal Program aims to provide isolated elderly, and people with a disability, an opportunity to have a healthy, culturally specific, nutritionally valued three course meal.
This fortnightly program will create a pathway to bring together isolated members of the community to establish friendships and share in information to promote health and wellbeing.

In-Home Meal Preparation
The In-home preparation of meals is usually provided for particularly frail older people, or for those residents with dementia. And generally forms part of a personal care service.
Shopping
If you require assistance with shopping, in some areas a regular door to door shopping trip is made to local shopping centres using our community bus.
