Garbage Collection
Council provides a weekly collection of household waste to all residential properties. Residents have the choice of an 80L or 140L light green bin for garbage. You will receive a $14 refund on your rates if you choose to have an 80L garbage bin.

What items can I put in my Garbage Bin?
- Plastic bags, soft plastic packets and wrappers

- Old clothing, shoes and linen
(that cannot be donated to a charity store)

- Broken crockery, window glass, mirrors and light globes

- General houshold rubbish, including food scraps

A $14 refund on your Rates is available to households that down size their garbage bin to an 80L bin. To change the size of you bin please complete a Waste Service Request Form.pdf (63.87 kb).
I would like to change the size of my Bin. I need a Bigger Bin.
You may be able to upgrade your bin size for free upon proof of five or more people living in your house or a medical condition that requires additional bin space. Larger bins can also be provided for an additional fee. For further information on how to obtain a larger bin and whether you are eligible for the free upgrade please contact us on 9205 2200.
Additional bins or upgrades to bin sizes can be provided subject to additional annual charges.

To request a larger bin size or an additional bin, complete the Waste Service Request Form.pdf (63.87 kb) and return it to us via contactus@hume.vic.gov.au, fax or drop it into one of our Customer Service Centres. .
