Call for Expressions of Interest for membership of the Hume Arts Advisory Team (HAART)

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from residents, local artists, students and cultural workers in Hume City to become Community Members of the Hume Arts Reference Team (HAART).

Five Community Members of HAART are to be appointed by Council, each for a three year term.  Community Members will be selected on the basis of their ability to advise and assist Council on a range of arts and cultural issues and support arts development in Hume City.

Completed Expression of Interest Forms must be received at Council by 5.00pm Monday 21 November 2011.

Council established the Hume Arts Advisory Team (HAART) to provide assistance and advice to Council on arts and cultural issues and increase arts development in Hume City.  The role of HAART is to:

  • provide strategic direction and advice in relation to arts and cultural policy, programs, facilities ans services;
  • support Council with arts and cultural events;
  • advocate on behalf of arts and cultural initiatives in Hume City;
  • encourage networking of local arts and cultural organisations and artists; and
  • contribute to the development of a thriving arts and cultural industry within Hume City.

Community Members will not only be selected on the basis of their work as artists.  Council seeks to appoint a cross-section of people that reflect the demographic, geographic and artistic diversity of Hume City.  Community Members will also be selected to ensure that HAART provides a broad range of skills and experience relevant to local arts development.

The Hume Arts Advisory Team will also consist of a Chairperson and/or Patron, Council’s Arts & Cultural Portfolio Councillor, and relevant Council Officers.
