This free community forum will give parents practical, easy to use ways to talk to kids about alcohol, and plenty of ideas about how to keep them safe. The forums will be presented by Geoff Munro, Australian Drug Foundation and Leigh Bartlett, Barwon Adolescent Taskforce.

| Heartlands Refugee Fine Arts Prize 2012 - Closes April 20 |
|
Victorian art prize now open to talented refugee artists. Paintings, drawings, photography and mixed media works by refugee artists who have arrived in Australia since 1970 are now being sought for this year’s Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize.
A total prize pool of $15,000 will be shared by three primary prize-winners, a new arrival prize and eight honourable mentions. First prize is $5,000 plus a solo exhibition and artist in residence opportunity. Shortlisted entries will be showcased at the Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize exhibition, held at fortyfivedownstairs in Flinders Lane from June 6-16.
The Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize is presented by AMES and Multicultural Arts Victoria in partnership with VicHealth and Parks Victoria. It celebrates the skills, talents and creativity that refugees bring to Victoria and the social and cultural contributions they provide to our community.
Entries close Friday 20 April 2012.

Each year approximately 250 Australian children (aged 0-14 years) are killed and 58,000 hospitalised by unintentional injuries. Kidsafe, the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia, is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to prevent and reduce the incidence and severity of unintentional childhood injuries in Australian children aged less than 15 years National Kidsafe Day aims to increase community awareness of unintention childhood injuries and their prevention.

The BEAT (Broadmeadows Employment and Training) - An outreach Job Club program operates every Wednesday from 10 – 1pm at Dallas Neighbourhood House.(Tel. 9302 2131)
Commencing in September the BEAT will be operating the first two Wednesdays of the month at Banksia Gardens Community Centre (Tel. 9309 8531) and the 3rd and 4th Wednesday of the month at Banksia Gardens Community Centre.
Hume City Council in partnership with other community agencies including Employment Service Providers, Centrelink, and Registered Training Organisations assist residents with career counselling, job search support, resume writing, job interview preparation and referral to courses and other support services.
