Municipal Fire Management Plan

Council has a legislative requirement to have a Municipal Fire Management Plan (MFMP). The purpose of this document is to provide a strategy for the co-ordination of fire prevention measures.

The draft document is currently being created by the Municipal Fire Management Committee which consists of representatives from across Council as well as outside agencies.  These organisations are responsible for fire prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and cultural and environmental uses of fire. As part of this process, we are reviewing and reassessing the identified fire risks to develop a program of coordinated multi-agency risk treatments to include within the draft plan. These treatments will be designed to reduce the risk of fire and the damage that could be caused to the community, the environment, and the economy.

Council will be seeking community feedback on this draft Municipal Fire Management Plan in the coming months. Keep an eye out for more details on this page or in the 'Have your Say' section of the website.  Community feedback will ensure that the Hume City MFMP responds to the community’s needs, values and perceived risks.
