Sunbury Hume Integrated Growth Area Plan (HIGAP)

What is Sunbury HIGAP?

HIGAP will be a new plan for the township informed by those who live there. The Plan seeks to respond to the opportunities and challenges for the township as it grows. It will identify where and when new housing, employment and infrastructure should be delivered whilst retaining Sunbury’s rural setting and character.

The Draft Strategies

Hume City Council is now seeking public comment on the following two Draft Final Strategies that will make up the Sunbury HIGAP:

  • The Draft Sunbury Spatial Strategy
  • The Draft Sunbury Delivery & Infrastructure Strategy

The Preferred Options Paper
The Sunbury HIGAP Preferred Options Paper (1198.6 kb) was the third paper prepared to inform the Sunbury HIGAP and outlines Councils preferred approach to the management of growth in Sunbury. It presented the preferred locations for employment areas, activity centres, open spaces, rural conservation as well as new roads and public transport infrastructure. 

Two community consultation sessions were held  in December and the Sunbury HIGAP Preferred Options Paper (1198.6 kb) was available for community comment until 13th January 2012.

The Detailed Options Paper

The Detailed Options Paper was the second paper prepared to inform the Sunbury HIGAP and builds on the vision, objectives and principles in the Emerging Options Paper. It presented a series of options for future land use, infrastructure and development based on the findings from community consultation as well as further work undertaken. Two community consultation sessions were held for Sunbury HIGAP in September and the Detailed Options Paper was released for community comment from 26th August to 16th September 2011.

The Emerging Options Paper

The Emerging Options Paper was the first HIGAP document released and outlined the issues and challenges for Sunbury as it grows as well as a series of options to guide the future growth of the township.  You can dowload a copy of the Sunbury HIGAP Emerging Options Paper.pdf  (1321.23 kb).

A community consultation session was held for Sunbury HIGAP in May and the Emerging Options Paper was available for community comment from 12 May to 3 June 2011.
