Anzac Day Services
Tuesday 25 April is ANZAC Day – Hume residents of many cultures will come together as one to venerate the fallen.
ANZAC Day commemorates the service and sacrifice of all Australians who have served in war or on peacekeeping operations throughout the world.
It is a day on which we reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of Australians who have put their life on the line and unfortunately sometimes made the ultimate sacrifice in order to protect our freedom, our way of life and our very lives. We also reflect on the losses of those left behind. It is perhaps the most important national day in Australia.
The Anzac Centenary 2014 - 2018 commemorates our nation’s involvement in the First World War and more than a century of service by Australian servicemen and women. Hume City Council established the Anzac Centenary Community Committee to provide consideration and recommend activities to encourage awareness and participation from the whole of the community.
