Australia Day Awards

On Australia Day Hume residents come together to welcome new citizens to our city. We also recognise the many people in our community who take time out of their busy lives to help and inspire others.

Hume City Council has a proud tradition of publicly recognising outstanding contributions made to the Hume community through the presentation of the Australia Day Awards.

Awards are presented in the following categories:

  • Hume Citizen of the Year
  • Hume Young Citizen of the Year
  • Hume Community Event of the Year

Nominations are now open for the 2020 Australia Day Awards

There are so many incredible people working behind the scenes who help make our schools, clubs, fundraisers, community activities and events great.

These people don’t do the work they do for the thanks, but as a community it is important we take the time to recognise and acknowledge their dedication to our community.

If you know a quiet achiever or devoted individual who has gone above and beyond in our community, nominations are now open for the 2020 Hume City Council Australia Day Awards.

You are invited to nominate a person who is a resident of the Hume municipality, or an event that was held in the Hume municipality. Nominations close at 5pm on Monday 16 December 2019.

The 2020 Hume City Council Australia Day Awards will be presented at a public ceremony to be held on Sunday 26 January 2020, commencing at 9am at Town Hall Broadmeadows. All members of the public are invited to attend.

You can nominate online for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year, ensuring you have reviewed the Guidelines and Selection Criteria for the relevant category.

Alternatively you can download a nomination form to print, fill out and return to Council:
