Procurement Policy

In November 2008, amendments to the Local Government Act, 1989 (the Act) were passed which included a new section, s186A that requires a council to "prepare and approve a procurement policy. A procurement policy must include any prescribed matter and a council must have regard to Ministerial Guidelines made under the section when preparing its policy. A council must review its procurement policy annually and make it available for public inspection."

This policy applies to all contracting and procurement activities at Council and is binding upon Councillors and all Council staff, including contractors and consultants while engaged by the Council.
