Award, success…and the kitchen sink!

The Campbellfield kitchen manufacturer which won last year’s top prize at the Hume Business Awards has since grown so big that it has been forced to move into larger premises.

Kitchen Innovations, Hume’s 2014 Business of the Year, now employs 150 people and is considered one of the most successful kitchen and joinery companies in Australia.

Hume Mayor, Cr Adem Atmaca, said the company’s success demonstrated how the Hume Business Awards can help enterprises to build their profile, and encouraged people to nominate local firms for the 2015 awards.

“Kitchen Innovations is a real Hume success story, and the company has continued to employ more and more people,” Cr Atmaca said.

“The firm has designed, manufactured and installed kitchens since 1994, but it continues to innovate and recently added stone bench tops to its range.

“Kitchen Innovations is a terrific example of how Hume businesses transform, expand and offer exemplary service to customers who reside well beyond our municipality.”

Nominations for the 2015 Hume Business Awards are now open, and people are encouraged to submit applications in support of firms which demonstrate a quality product or service, as well as those that exhibit excellent customer service.

Cr Atmaca said Hume City Council was very keen to support local business.

“Hundreds of businesses are located right across Hume and they work hard every day to develop and promote their product, and service their customers,” he said.

“Hume’s local businesses operate within many different and competitive industries, from transport and manufacturing, to retail and tourism.

“Many Hume enterprises have taken risks to innovate and develop a product or service, and their success boosts the local economy and ultimately provides jobs for Hume residents.”

The 2015 Business Awards will recognise businesses through various categories, including manufacturing, professional services, new and emerging small business, and sustainability.

A panel will judge each nomination, and winners will be announced at a ceremony on Thursday 22 October 2015 at the Park Royal Melbourne Airport.

Cr Atmaca said the awards offered a chance for local businesses to demonstrate their achievements.

“Nominated firms often receive a valuable platform to share their stories, and tell others about how they have developed a superior product or service,” he said.

“The awards can boost morale amongst staff members, and help businesses to attract employees who want to create and innovate in an exciting workplace.”

The Hume Business Awards are one of a number of ways that Council assists to develop the local economy.

Hume offers business breakfasts, training and development workshops, and helps companies to recruit employees who live in the local community.

The 2015 Hume Business Awards are sponsored by Melbourne Airport and nomination forms can be completed here until 10 August 2015.
