Vandals have again damaged the playing surface of oval number two at Highgate Recreation Reserve in Craigieburn.

Offenders broke through a locked gate on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, and drove at least one vehicle in circles.

This caused significant damage to the turf because the grass had been dormant.

Council officers will cut and roll the turf on oval number two and apply top-dressing to the tyre marks, using rubber granules and sand.

Offenders also damaged garden beds located in between ovals one and two.

While the perpetrators vandalised a turf farm situated near oval number one, they did not access the playing surface of what is Council’s premier AFL standard field.

Anyone with information about the attack should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and Hume City Council on 03 9205 2200.
