Hume Multiversity

People who would like to kick-start their future are encouraged to consider a course through Hume Multiversity.

Enrolments are now open for mid-year entry to a variety of tertiary courses.

Hume Mayor, Councillor Helen Patsikatheodorou, said Hume Multiversity afforded local residents a chance to develop a completely new career.

“We offer Hume Multiversity at our global learning centres in Broadmeadows and Craigieburn, and enrolments for mid-year entry are available until the end of July,” Cr Patsikatheodorou said.

“People who haven’t studied at university before can gain the skills they need to thrive through a tertiary enabling program, run for 14 weeks by La Trobe University.

“Hume Multiversity also offers bachelor degrees in commerce, psychological science and health sciences, via Deakin University.

“And people who would like to work with some of Australia’s youngest children may be interested in a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, facilitated by Victoria University, or Deakin’s Bachelor in Early Childhood Education.

“These courses prepare students for wonderful careers, and a decision to enrol at Hume Multiversity can be truly life-changing.”

Hume Multiversity enables local residents to study in modern rooms, with classes conducted in real time via video-conference, and tutors and lecturers are available to assist students face-to-face.

The courses are particularly popular with youth and residents who haven’t studied for a long time, because they allow students to further their education in a friendly environment that’s close to home.

Cr Patsikatheodorou said Hume Multiversity had been rated highly amongst students.

“We conducted a survey recently and found that 88 per cent of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that teachers were supportive and helpful,” she said.

“More than 80 per cent of people said they achieved their goals through Hume Multiversity, and 100 per cent of respondents agreed that Hume’s global learning centres were accessible.

“Hume Multiversity has helped many people to attain better jobs, and lots of students have gone on to study university courses at a higher level.

“It’s a terrific way to build confidence and get to know others with similar interests who live in the local community.”

Hume City Council commenced its multiversity initiative almost four years ago, to assist people to learn throughout their lives.

The courses are delivered by some of Australia’s top education providers, being La Trobe University, Deakin University, Victoria University and Kangan Institute.

The studies are ideal for anyone who has recently left school, as well as a professional worker that would like to change careers.
