Hume City Council has appointed architects Croxon Ramsay Pty Ltd, to deliver the design of the new Hume Global Learning Centre – Sunbury development.

Hume Mayor Councillor Helen Patsikatheodorou said the Melbourne-based architects were selected from 14 companies who submitted an expression of interest for the $14 million project.

“Hume City Council is proud to be delivering the new Hume Global Learning Centre which will provide a world-class learning and community facility for Sunbury,” Cr Patsikatheodorou said.

“The new centre will provide formal and informal community spaces for residents and local organisations, allowing for private and organised study, social interaction, library services, exhibitions, seminars and conferences, meeting and training opportunities.

“Council is excited to be working with Croxon Ramsay architects on the design and delivery of this important project for our growing community.” Croxon Ramsay have extensive experience in the design of a range of community facilities for local government – including the Craigieburn Bowling Club, Sunshine Community Centre, Sydenham Library and Community Centre and Balwyn Library.

They have also overseen a range of public, educational, commercial, recreational and heritage design projects – including The Glasshouse and Holden Centre, Westbourne Grammar School, Donkey Wheel House and Saltwater Community Centre.

Cr Patsikatheodorou said Croxon Ramsay and Hume City Council would consult with the community for input and feedback on the planning and development of the new facility.

“Council’s vision for the Hume Global Learning Centre – Sunbury is one that the whole community can enjoy and benefit from,” Cr Patsikatheodorou said.

“Over the next year we will be consulting with our community on a range of matters including the design, development and future use of the centre to ensure that it meets the needs and expectations of our community.”

The Hume Global Learning Centre – Sunbury will be located in Macedon Street – on a site next to the existing Sunbury Library and is scheduled to open in early 2019.

A new 11-member Community Advisory Group was established in early August 2016 to help inform the planning and development of the project. For more information on the Hume Global Learning Centre – Sunbury, visit hume.vic.gov.au/hglcsunbury
