Hume summer of free outdoor movie sessions

Hume families can enjoy free outdoor movies and entertainment as part of Council’s Summer Sessions events taking place across the City from January to March.

Hume Mayor Councillor Drew Jessop said hundreds of families were expected to take advantage of summer weather and the free entertainment sessions.

“Families and friends are encouraged to come along and enjoy a night of free entertainment; this year, we are proud that the program will feature recent blockbusters including The Jungle Book and Finding Dory,” Cr Jessop said.

“Council presented the Summer Sessions for the first time last year, in response to calls from the community for more events in their local areas, and they were hugely popular.

“These events are lots of fun, they have a great atmosphere and really do allow our residents an opportunity to relax and get to know their neighbours.”

The Summer Sessions will incorporate many areas of Hume, on the following dates:

  • Friday 13 January 2017, at Greenvale Recreation Centre, 27 Barrymore Road, Greenvale. Movie: The Jungle Book;
  • Saturday 21 January 2017, at Broadmeadows Valley Park, Barry Road, Meadow Heights. Movie: Alice Through the Looking Glass;
  • Saturday 4 February 2017, at Neighbourhood Park, 8 Hawksburn Place, Mickleham. Movie: Zootopia;
  • Saturday 18 February 2017, at Homestead Community and Learning Centre, 30 Wiltshire Drive, Roxburgh Park. Movie: Finding Dory;
  • Friday 10 March 2017, at Broadmeadows Civic Plaza, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows. Movie: The Secret Life of Pets.

Food stalls and family fun will start at 6pm on each date, with the movie to commence from 7pm.

Cr Jessop called on everyone to note down the movie dates in their 2017 calendars.

“There’s nothing quite like a really good movie, and Summer Session will offer a very memorable evening,” he said.

Council also proudly sponsors two additional movie screenings, planned by local community groups for the following dates:

  • Saturday 11 February 2017, at Highlands Lake, 1 North Shore Drive, Craigieburn, thanks to the Highlands Community Residents’ Group (event starts at 7pm and movie starts at sundown). Movie: Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie. Please note that this event requires a paid ticket.
  • Saturday 18 February 2017, at Sunbury Village Green, Stawell Street, Sunbury, presented by Sunbury Community Health and Homegrown Events (event starts at 6pm and movie starts at sundown). Movie: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
