Lighting to improve access to much-loved Broadmeadows Town Park

Hume City Council’s investment of $1 million towards the redevelopment of the Broadmeadows Town Park has been boosted with a $227,000 State Government grant towards public light upgrades at the much-loved park.

Hume Mayor Geoff Porter welcomed the announcement and said the lighting would enhance the experience for residents using the park.

“The Broadmeadows Town Park is a real open space gem within the Broadmeadows Town Centre,” Cr Porter said.

“Hume City Council is working to make it an even better space for our residents by making improvements so that all residents and visitors can enjoy what the Town Park has to offer.

“Support from the State Government’s Public Safety Infrastructure Fund towards lighting will ensure the community is able to access an upgraded Broadmeadows Town Park for a longer part of the day.

“It will importantly also improve access for those using the park to walk to important facilities such as the Broadmeadows shopping centre, Hume Global Learning Centre and Broadmeadows Train Station.

“We thank the Victorian Government, particularly the Minister for Police, the Hon. Lisa Neville MP for supporting our vision to improve the Broadmeadows Town Park for our community.”

Council’s $1.07 million upgrade of the Broadmeadows Town Park includes:

  • New pathways
  • Concrete seating terrace

  • Picnic shelter, BBQ infrastructure and outdoor table settings
  • Outdoor seating and park furniture
