New Environmental Scholarships available now

Help deliver positive environmental change in Hume by applying for an environmental scholarship.

Mayor, Cr Geoff Porter said the aim of the scholarship program is to provide study opportunities that support and empower people to better care for our environment.

“In a recent Hume Community Indicators survey, over 90 per cent of participating residents said that environmental sustainability is important,” Cr Porter said.

“This new scholarship will provide people with the knowledge they need to better protect and conserve the environment.

“The scholarships will fund participation in courses and conferences on a range of environment related topics including conservation and land management, environment and sustainability.

“The scholarships are a great opportunity for people who are keen to study and share their learnings about the environment.

“If you would like to take your environmental education to the next level, I encourage you to apply.”

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must live, work or volunteer in Hume and be willing to share knowledge gained with others in the Hume community. The scholarship will fund up to 80 per cent of course fees, up to $1500 per successful applicant.

Items that will be funded include:

  • courses of any length delivered by a Registered Training Organisation, Learn Local, or a reputable organisation; or
  • conference registration.
