Festival celebrates all abilities

Hume City Council is proud to host the Active for All Abilities Festival which promotes active lifestyles for people of all abilities and the people who care for them.

Mayor of Hume City, Councillor Carly Moore said the Active for All programs have proven to be very popular at our leisure centres this year and the festival is a celebration of the joy and fun that getting active brings our community.

“Held to coincide with Social Inclusion Week and the International Day for People with a Disability, the festival features nine events that will run across various Council facilities,” Cr Moore said.

“Festival highlights include a celebration morning tea at Town Hall Broadmeadows, a range of free fitness programs and classes, a come-and-try day with local sporting clubs, and the all-inclusive and ever-popular Discomania events.

“These innovative programs have been funded by the Victorian Government and Council has been pleased to deliver such an extensive program of activities in 2019 that culminates with the Active for All Abilities Festival.

“The Active for All funding has also helped train local sporting clubs about disability awareness and how to make sporting clubs more accessible for our all abilities participants.”
