Spring into action and outdoor fun with HumeXplorer

The all new HumeXplorer gives nature-lovers with inquisitive minds a whole new way to explore nature with their family and friends in Hume City.

Mayor of Hume City, Councillor Carly Moore said HumeXplorer is a great tool for families and encourages children to get outside to enjoy nature.

“Connecting with nature is so important and this new program gives children a sense of achievement as they play, learn and explore their natural environment with family and friends,” Cr Moore said.

“In the fast paced and technologically advanced society we live in today, this program is a great way to encourage and inspire kids to unplug from digital entertainment and rediscover what is waiting for them in our outdoor spaces.”

“With the finer weather ahead, it’s a great time to get outdoors and experience the parks in your neighbourhood.”

The HumeXplorer features three key elements:

  • PLAY – Nature based play events
  • LEARN – Walk with words (Story installations in parks and open spaces with footpath stickers all leading to activities or features)
  • EXPLORE – Kids Adventure Passport

HumeXplorer is best suited to children aged three to eight but has been designed to get the whole family involved with an exciting variety of outdoor adventures, discoveries and shared learnings.

Cr Moore said the first step is to pick up your HumeXplorer guide at a Hume Library, Hume City Council Customer Service Centres or on our website.

“Eager and enthusiastic explorers can also sign up online for more bonus missions, tips and you can even share your adventures on social media using #HumeXplorer,” Cr Moore said.

“We also ask all our HumeXplorer’s to remember the outdoors is home to lots of plants and animals, so it is important to respect our environment and every plant, animal and insect living there.”
