Community Advisory Group


Eleven people from a wide range of community and business backgrounds were selected to join a group that helped to shape the centre.

The Community Advisory Group consisted of:

Jarrod Bell – a young professional and resident of Sunbury who holds a range of community roles;

Kirsty Ferguson – a member of Sunbury Community Health’s Community Reference Group and the Diggers Rest Additional Needs Support Group;

Kim Forward – A Sunbury resident and Deputy Principal of Aitken College;

Carol Franceschi – a Sunbury resident and coordinator of Macedon Ranges Further Education Centre with over 20 years’ experience running learning programs in Sunbury;

Peter Free – a Sunbury resident with strong community networks, association with the Sunbury Historical and Heritage Society and knowledge about libraries and use of technology;

Bruce Marshall – a Sunbury resident with extensive experience in the local government sector with a focus on economic development and strong working knowledge of Sunbury’s business community;

Ian Phillips – a Sunbury resident and businessman and one of Victoria’s leading authorities on the role, work and impact of public libraries. He has vast prior experience working for the Australian Library and Information Association on a number of high profile planning and research projects;

Mercedes Ramirez – a longtime Sunbury resident with a strong professional history in environmental sustainability and disseminating this information to community groups;

Madeline Seyman – a young Sunbury resident who currently facilitates a weekly teen program that focuses on literacy, numeracy, problem solving and positive social interaction skills delivered at the existing Sunbury library;

Janet Thomson – a Sunbury resident and chairperson of Goonawarra Neighbourhood House with significant experience in delivering high quality education, training and community development; and

Wendy Walters – a Sunbury resident, member of the Sunbury Residents Association, and small business owner.
