The 2021 festival is led by Victoria University and Hume City Council, and is supported by the Hume Multiversity Steering group, the HWLLEN and the Sunbury Gisborne Careers Network.

Join us to explore some of the exciting study and career pathway options available to you. Hear from industry experts, inspiring individuals, and knowledgeable advisors from a variety of education providers, industry bodies, and support services.

NDIS School Leaver Employment Supports - Monday 30 August, 5:30pm

Uniting have supported school leavers with disability to transition into employment for 15 years.

In your final year of high school you will be offered a wide range of possibilities for your transition from school. It can be an exciting and confusing time.

You may want to start working straight away but are unsure of how to gain employment.

Uniting’s School Leaver Employment Support offers a range of training, work placements and life skill opportunities to help you achieve your employment goals.

Assess Your Employability Skills - Tuesday 31 August 2021, 10.30am

Understanding your transferable skills will help you to choose the right career and can give you an edge in today's competitive job market. This workshop will guide you through the 8 Key Employability Skills universally valued by employers and help you to appreciate and effectively express your own skills and abilities.

Creating an Effective Cover Letter and Resume - Tuesday 31 August 2021, 1pm

In the current competitive job market, it is essential to give yourself the best chance at being noticed by recruiters. This session will provide tips on effective ways to put forward your application and increase your chances in getting shortlisted for jobs.

Starting a Business - What to think about before you start, and where to get support! - Tuesday 31 August 2021, 5.30pm

An introduction to what needs to be considered before starting a business.  
What should you consider before starting? What sorts of business ideas lead to successful outcomes?  What basic legal and business structure items should be considered?

It then also features two free support programs funded by the Dept. Education, Skills and Employment to help new business owners start up right, with skills and mentoring and other support benefits that are available in Australia.  The focus of the presentation is on the Exploring Being My Own Boss Workshop Series and the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS).
