Let’s Grow Hume Workshops – ONLINE SERIES
Council has launched a new program to encourage residents to grow food at home called Let’s Grow Hume. Sustainable Gardening Australia (SGA) will be delivering a number of online workshops as part of the program. They are free to attend and are geared towards beginner gardeners but experienced gardeners are welcome too.
The online structure of these workshops allows you to participate in the comfort of your own home. If you cannot make the online time on the night but are still interested in the workshop, please register and an online recording will be made available at the conclusion of the event.
You are welcome to register for one or all webinars that will help you in the garden.
Workshop 1 – Getting Started with Organic Gardening - Wednesday 24th August @ 7pm
Want to get into organic gardening at home but not sure where to start? This is the perfect introductory gardening seminar to come along to. SGA will introduce safe, effective and simple gardening ideas to support you on your gardening journey. Learn the basics of garden design and plant groupings to get the most out of your space.
Workshop 2 - Composting and Wormfarming - Thursday 1st September @ 7pm
Learn how to reduce your food waste going to landfill and use it productively in your own garden! This webinar will break down the steps involved to managing food waste effectively at home for a healthier, more productive garden.
Workshop 3 - Managing and Creating Healthy Soil - Thursday 6th October @ 7pm
This workshop is all about the fundamentals of nurturing healthy soil. SGA will go through the steps to support gardeners looking to improve the health of their soil and get more healthy produce growing in the garden as a result. A must for those keen on getting the best produce from their soil!
Workshop 4 - Dealing With Garden Pests - Wednesday 2nd November @ 7pm
Are you tired of pest animals and bugs getting to your garden before you do? This is the workshop for you! Come along to this online workshop to discover safe and organic methods to keeping pests away from your garden so that you can enjoy the fruits of your labour before they do!
Workshop 5 - Water Smart Gardening - Friday 1st December @ 7pm
Just in time for the warmer months! This workshop explores how to become a water smart gardener. This workshop will demonstrate ways to reduce your water usage in the garden but still ensure your plants and veggies are getting the water they need. Learn about design, dry climate plants, the pros and cons of various mulches and rain water use.
Registrations essential. Upon registering, you will receive a Zoom link for your chosen workshops. This will be forwarded again on the afternoon of the session.
