Vaccines for children

Children aged between 5 and 11 years are eligible for vaccination against COVID-19 from 10 January 2022.

By vaccinating your children, you can:

  • Reduce the spread of the COVID-19
  • Protect them from getting sick from COVID-19
  • Keep schools open, so kids can have more face-to-face learning and playtime with their friends.

Vaccines are available at your GP and local pharmacy, or a vaccination centre.

The Australian Technical Advisory Group recommends the Pfizer vaccine for children in this age group.

It is recommended that children receive two doses, 8 weeks apart.
