Changes to Council services

Our services are reopening with the easing of restrictions. The complete list of service changes and their operating status is below. Please follow the individual health and safety measures signed at each of our facilities, and show respect to our staff if asked for your vaccination status (as required by the Chief Health Officer). 

You can also help keep our community safe by...

  • Following staff directions.
  • Make sure to add your digital certificate to your Service Victoria app before you arrive.
  • If you have a medical exemption, please ensure you can provide photo ID.
  • Checking in via a QR code on entry. If you do not have a smartphone, staff can assist you and you will need to provide photo ID.
  • Wearing a mask where required. 
  • Staying home if you are unwell.
  • Practicing good hand hygiene.
  • Practicing social distancing. 

 

Aged and community support

Our Senior Centres are closed.

Services related to Home Care Packages, Commonwealth Home Support Programme and Meals on Wheels will continue with some adjustments.  

Childcare and kinder

Three Year Old Kinder, Four Year Old Kinder, Long Day Care, and Occasional Care services are open to all families regardless of vaccination status. 

Community facilities

Community Centres

Community centres and Community Gardens are open. 

Halls and venues for hire

All community facilities including Hume Global Learning Centres, youth centres and all community venues are available for hire.

Some venues, such as  Town Hall Broadmeadows, may be operating as a COVID-19 immunisation or testing site.

Galleries

Gee Lee-Wik Doleen Gallery and the Hume Global Learning Centre – Sunbury Gallery have reopened. 

Town Hall Broadmeadows Gallery will remain closed for the remainder of 2021. 

 

COVID-19 Vaccinations
Visitors to community facilities who are aged 12 years and 2 months or older will need to show proof of vaccination or an authorised medical exemption. This does not apply to people attending immunisation, maternal and child health appointments, or preschool and care services. 

Customer service

Customer Services Centres are open.

If you require in-person support from areas such as building and planning, environmental health and rates please call 9205 2200 before visiting one of our centres to ensure a team member is available as many staff continue to work remotely.

Leisure centres and sport facilities

Community sport

Community sport has resumed. Reserves and outdoor and indoor facilities are open.

Leisure Centres

Leisure Centres are open to fully vaccinated patrons. 

Children participating in a swimming lesson are exempt from vaccination. This also applies to one parent, guardian or carer to accompany a student to swimming lessons.  

What do I need to know?

  • Leisure Centres will resume full operating hours.
  • Bookings are not required.
  • We have a new group exercise timetable, density limits may restrict some classes, please visit Group Fitness for details.
  • Spas, saunas, and steam rooms are open with strict capacity limits. Please look out for signs.

COVID-19 Vaccinations
Anyone aged 12 years and 2 months or older will need to show proof of vaccination or an authorised medical exemption to enter our leisure centres unless an exemption applies. 

Libraries

The Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Gladstone Park, Sunbury and Tullamarine branches are open.

Hume Libraries Express, Click & Collect and Click & Collect Printing will continue to operate. Find out more on the Libraries' website

Visitors to libraries who are aged 12 years and two months or older will need to show proof of vaccination or an authorised medical exemption.

Maternal and Child Health

Maternal and Child Health appointments continue as normal. Vaccination status does not need to be shown to access this services.

StartNorth

StartNorth is open.

Sunbury Visitor Information Centre

The Sunbury Visitor Information Centre is open within the Hume Global Learning Centre - Sunbury.

Waste services

Resource Recovery Centres (tips)

Resource Recovery Centres (tips) are open.

Mulching days

Mulching days resume from Sunday 24 October. 

Bin collections and Hard Waste

Our bin and hard waste collection services are operating as normal.

Youth Services

Youth Centres are open. Sunbury Youth Centre remains closed due to works. 

Freeza and the Online Connect program will remain online.
