Hume City Council is responsible for the management of almost 1,357km of local roads within Hume. Major roads including freeways, state highways, tourist roads and forest roads are declared roads and the responsibility of VicRoads. Fleetwood Dr, Greenvale - Changed traffic conditions

Developer works continue to occur at the intersection of Fleetwood Drive and Somerton Road in Greenvale. 

These ongoing works are being conducted by the developer as part of the development of the estate. 

Geach St, Dallas - Changed traffic Conditions

On Monday, July 29, work commenced on reconstructing Geach Street in Dallas.

As part of the reconstruction, we will:

  • Undertake road pavement works.
  • Reconstruct the kerb and channel.
  • Upgrade the existing or new stormwater drainage system.
  • Reconstruct driveways

In August, we will modify the traffic conditions along Geach Street, implementing reduced speeds and lane closures to ensure the safety of these works. While these works are in progress, please refer to the traffic controllers and detour signs on the site.

We intend to complete these upgrade works by late 2024, with progress contingent on weather conditions. We encourage you to plan your journey and allow additional travel time.

Griffith Mews, Ballarat Ct, and Swinburne Cl, Craigieburn - Changed traffic Conditions

From Wednesday 7th August 2024, there will be changed traffic conditions in Craigieburn due to roadworks. Please refer to traffic controllers and detour signs on site while these works take place. Thank you for your patience while we complete these important works.

Scope of works: The road will be resurfaced by removing the top layer (milling) and then laying down a new 50mm thick layer of asphalt (wearing course) to improve the road’s surface.

Hothlyn Drive, Craigieburn - Changed traffic conditions

From Monday 22 July, we’ve been reconstructing Hothlyn Drive in Craigieburn.

As part of the reconstruction, we will:

  • undertake road pavement works
  • reconstruct kerb and channel
  • upgrade the existing stormwater drainage system
  • reconstruct driveways.

Construction works involve two stages. Stage 1 works are between Carlisle and Stockton Street, with Stage 2 works between Carlisle Street and Crocket Street.

The following works have now been completed on both stages:

  • drainage works
  • concrete works, including work on footpaths, pram crossings and driveways
  • reconstruction of kerbs
  • reinstatement of the nature strip.

Remaining works involve asphalting and profiling works, which will take place in late September and early October.

There are currently changed traffic conditions along Hothlyn Drive, including reduced speeds and lane closures in place so that we can complete these works safely. Please refer to traffic controllers and detour signs on site while these works take place.

These works are on track for completion in early October, with the progress dependent on weather conditions. We encourage you to plan your journey and allow additional travel time.

Note: Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) will be closing Craigieburn Road both directions, between Walters Street and Hardy Avenue from 9pm, Sunday 22 September until Sunday 6 October. For more information on this closure, click here.

 

Ligar Street, Sunbury - Changed traffic conditions

From Monday 17 June, we’ll begin upgrading Ligar Street in Sunbury.

As part of the upgrades, we’ll:

  • undertake road pavement works and install traffic treatments
  • reconstruct kerb and channel
  • build indented parking for medical facilities
  • install a road stormwater drainage system
  • upgrade the existing Ligar Street parking bays for people with a disability, at the front of the Sunbury Aquatic Centre. 

From mid-June, there’ll be changed traffic conditions along Ligar Street, including reduced speeds and lane closures in place so that we can complete these works safely.  Please refer to traffic controllers and detour signs on site while these works take place.

Mt Ridley Road, Mickleham - Changed traffic conditions

From Saturday 29 June until Sunday 14 July, private developers will be undertaking works to install a median strip and build a traffic island along Mt Ridley Road in Mickleham.

These works have been scheduled during the off-peak school holiday period, when traffic volumes are lower. While construction is underway, there’ll be changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits, lane closures and temporary barriers, traffic lights and temporary line marking on Mt Ridley Road while these works take place.

As part of this new road design, how you access Mt Ridley Road and Lagoon Avenue will change once the works are complete. From Monday 15 July, the below traffic arrangements will permanently be in place.

Widford Street, Broadmeadows - Changed traffic conditions

From 29 June, we’ll begin upgrading Widford Street in Broadmeadows.

As part of the upgrades, we’ll:

  • Install raised crossings at 3 locations (Widford Street - Freda Street, Widford Street - Olsen Place, and School crossing at Widford and Jacana Avenue)

There’ll be partial road closures with detours, mostly overnight. Please refer to traffic controllers and detour signs on site while these works take place.
