Correa - Lachlan Plain

Lachlan P_Crop.jpg

Correa is an installation of sculpture, light and stop motion projection developed in conjunction with the 2022 Hume Winter Lights Festival. Correa tells the story of the beings that animate the bush and the things that divide them. Artist, Lachlan Plain, reflects on the arbitrary divisions we carve into the land – roads, fences, borders – as well as those we construct between ourselves.

Since childhood Lachlan has lived in other worlds, on different plains, navigating them via several mediums – performance, painting and the written word. His work as artistic director of Sanctum Studio has been described as, ‘forg[ing] a dark and surreal dystopia, packed with visual surprises,’ (The Age 2018).
