‘Tis the season to be jolly, and jolly it will be this year for Hume City residents after two years of Christmas looking a little different.

Christmas is back with full force as Council embraces the festive season with a re-energised Christmas spirit to spread cheer across the municipality in many ways – big and small.

Christmas in Hume's flagship event Carols by Candlelight is making an exciting comeback for the first time in-person since 2019.

Craigieburn’s ANZAC Park will come alive on Saturday 3 December from 5 – 9.30pm with carols, activities for all ages, a visit from Santa, a fireworks extravaganza and more!

We are also excited to announce our celebrity host for the evening will be Hugh Sheridan. The main acts and performers include PAW Patrol, Garth Ploog, Michaela Jayde, Kathy Hinch, Chantelle Defina and Jack Lyall.

Not only is Carols by Candlelight making an exciting comeback, there will also be a roll out of exciting festive treats including:

  • $4,000 in giveaways as part of the Make Hume Shine Christmas lights competition for residents and business.
  • Immersive LED light installations at Craigieburn’s ANZAC Park, Sunbury’s Village Green and Broadmeadows’ Civic Plaza.
  • Outdoor Christmas trees in Sunbury, Broadmeadows, Craigieburn, Greenvale, Westmeadows, Gladstone Park, Tullamarine and Roxburgh Park.
  • Indoor trees at community centres, leisure centres, libraries and customer service centres.
  • A buzzing 30 days of Christmas pop-up events calendar, including Christmas pool parties, concerts and festive arts and crafts!
  • Feel-good Christmas community content, including seasonal messages from our Mayor, and other Councillors.

Remember to share your local Christmas pictures with us by tagging @HumeCityCouncil and using the hashtag #ChristmasinHume on socials.

Quotes attributable to Mayor Cr Joseph Haweil:

“Christmas in Hume is all about celebrating alongside our wonderful community and I can’t wait to share the festive spirit with locals right across our great city.”

“This Christmas season is a chance for all of us to enjoy the best of Hume celebrating, relaxing and enjoying the warmer weather with family and friends.”

"To say we are excited about having our first in-person Carols by Candlelight event in Hume City since 2019 is a massive understatement!”
