Welcome to a quick wrap up from the Mayor on key items that were discussed at our Council Meeting on Monday 27 March 2023.

1. Congratulations!

Council congratulated many groups in Hume City, including:

  • The Islamic community on the beginning of Ramadan
  • The GPAN group on their 10-year anniversary
  • The Sunbury Basketball Assocation on the appointment of four of their members to the State-level U16 Boys team
  • The volunteer organisers of Sunfest 2023
  • The Assyrian and Chaldean community on the New Year celebration of Akitu

2. Eid Festival

We will be supporting an upcoming Eid Festival in Broadmeadows in April. The event will be organised by the Annual Islamic Edi Show Inc.

3. Council Assets

Council-owned assets (like roads, building and parks) are overall in good condition. Council noted a report that shows 82% of assets are in excellent or very good condition. 15% are rated in good condition, while only 3% are in fair or poor condition.

4. Planning decisions

Council considered the planning application for 80 Blackwells Lane in Bulla for it to be used as a transfer station, among other things. We will not grant a permit, as it is in the Green Wedge Zone and the proposal did not provide sufficient information. Another separate planning application for nine townhouses at 4 Millar Road in Tullamarine was granted.

More details, including official minutes, notices of motion and audio recordings will be published later this week.
