Hume City Council welcomes the Federal Labor Government's commitment to invest $315,000 in much-needed upgrades for the Greenvale Tennis Pavilion.

To support the growth in local tennis, Federal Member for Calwell, Maria Vamvakinou MP visited the site with Mayor of Hume City, Cr Carly Moore last week to make the announcement.

The funds will be used to address several upgrades across the site, which aim to make the space more inclusive and accessible, and in turn, encourage greater use from the community.

The pavilion is home to the Greenvale Tennis Club, established in 1913, making it one of the oldest tennis clubs within Hume City.

The upgrade and development of these facilities will allow the club to welcome more players into the helm and ensure that future generations have the space to get involved in local sport and connect with each other.

Council has already committed to the joint $630,000 upgrade of the Greenvale Tennis Pavilion.

This is a great example of Federal and Local Government working collaboratively with and for the community.

Now we call upon the Federal Liberal Party to send us to a tiebreaker and match this commitment.

Hume City Council Mayor, Councillor Carly Moore said:

“We thank Maria Vamvakinou MP and the Labor Party for making this provisional election commitment for our community.”

“I have no doubt the upgraded pavilion will encourage more people to get involved in tennis locally and be valued for years to come.”
