Cubby Towns by Playable Streets at Campbellfield

Cubby Towns.PNG

CubbyTowns is an interactive installation developed with drawings and stories created by students at Campbellfield Heights Primary School. The installation explores the idea of home and what it means to each of us. Some drawings represent fantastical homes from our imaginations, others are more familiar spaces. Each cubby invites us to enter into a world of child-like wonder.

The installation was developed over a two-day collaborative workshop in which students followed prompts and created drawings of the interior and exterior of their imaginary homes. Sound recordings were collected from students as they spoke about the homes they had created, which is the unique score that you hear while inside these three cubbies.

Playable Streets is an innovative digital arts company creating artwork that uses technology to create human connections in public spaces.

Proudly Supported by Hume City Council and the COVIDsafe Outdoor Activation Fund.

Thank you to Grades 3, 4 and 5 students at Campbellfield Heights Primary School for their artwork.

The installation is on display from Wednesday 17 August to Tuesday 30 August and can be accessed 24/7.

The images you see on the cubbies are taken from the mosaic of drawings in the grid below.
