Hume City Council is investing $1.4 million into upgrades at Leo Dineen Reserve in Tullamarine with an additional $500,000 in funding announced yesterday by the Victorian Government.

Hume City Mayor Joseph Haweil welcomed and thanked the Victorian Government’s contribution and said redeveloping the pavilion will support greater participation within the community which contributes to community health and wellbeing.

“These upgrades will serve the Tullamarine sporting community well into the future with grounds improved to competition standards, providing a safe and welcoming space for players, spectators and the wider community”, Cr Haweil said.

“Sporting clubs are also a great way to make new friends and form social connections.”

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence MP said, “It’s about getting people out and getting them active and encouraging girls and women to be part of that as well.”

Due to be completed by mid-2022, the new pavilion will feature accessible changerooms and public amenities, a new social room, officials’ rooms, canteen with storeroom, a bar, first-aid room, and an external covered viewing area.

Tullamarine Football Club President and Cricket Club Vice President Peter Labbad voiced, “as part of a ‘one club, one culture’ vision, the upgrades will create a bigger network than just cricket and football facilities”.

“These upgrades will open a network for family, careers and helping people’s lives.”
