School Immunisation Program

As part of the National Immunisation Program Schedule, Council visits secondary schools in Hume City municipality to immunise year 7 and year 10 students.

At secondary schools, vaccines are administered to protect against:

Disease Vaccine
Human papillomavirus (Year 7)
  • Gardasil9 (two-dose course)
Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (Year 7)
  • Boostrix (single dose)
Meningococcal ACWY (year 10)
  • Nimenrix  (single dose) – commencing 1 April 2019

This is a free program for all year 7 and year 10 students. Students will need consent from a parent or guardian before any vaccine is given.

How it works:

Schools will issue parents or guardians with immunisation consent cards and information about the vaccines at the beginning of the school year.

If you don't receive this information from your child’s school, please contact the school. You can also download immunisation consent forms form the Immune Hero

Make sure you return your consent card to the school even if you're planning to have your child immunised by your GP or at a Council public immunisation session. This assists the school and Council in planning the session.

If your child is absent on the day of the school immunisation visit, an SMS and a letter informing you how to catch up on the missed vaccination will be sent to you.

For more information, call 9205 2200 or email our immunisation team.
