Council’s Delivered Meals program has been given the capacity and resources to deliver more meals to older residents and people with a disability. This service provides high-quality and nutritious meals that can be reheated at the client's convenience – ensuring food security and the nutritional well-being of those most vulnerable in the community. Call 1800 200 422 to arrange an assessment for eligibility.

Before you can access these services, you need to be approved for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme through My Aged Care. Find out how to access services here.

Delivered Meals

Hume City Council can deliver fresh and nutritious three-course meals to your home.

Meals are available for all days of the week and menu choices are over seven days and operate on a four-week cycle. You must be home to receive your meal.

Changes to the menu are made with changes in the seasons – meaning we’re sourcing ingredients that are fresh and healthy. Our meals can also cater to various dietary requirements (e.g. Halal, vegetarian, diabetic etc.)

To ensure high standards of food safety and hygiene, our meals are prepared in our kitchen, chilled, and then delivered to your home. You simply heat your meal at a time that’s convenient for you.

Meals are delivered between 9.30am and 1.30pm, Monday to Friday.

You must be home to receive your meal.

If you are not going to be home, you must cancel your meal in advance. If staff arrive at your home and cannot reach you, they will follow an emergency procedure to ensure you are safe.

Centre Based Meals

The Centre Based Meals Program offers eligible people and seniors healthy and nutritious three-course meals in a friendly and inviting setting

Centre-based meals are a great way to meet new people or catch up with other locals in the community. The service is also available to those not deemed eligible for My Aged Care services.

Our meals can also cater to various dietary requirements (e.g. Halal, vegetarian, diabetic etc.)

All lunches cost $8 and operate from 11.30am – 1.30pm.

There is no assessment required for this service, however it can form part of service you receive through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme. Pension card holders are also encouraged to attend.
