Agricultural Land Use Rebate

Program overview

The Agricultural Land Use Rebate provides eligible landowners with a financial incentive in the form of an annual rate rebate to undertake works on their property that address land degradation issues including weed and pest animal control.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, landowners must be using their property primarily for agricultural land use activities and implementing satisfactory land management works.

The current value of the rebate is 23% discount on the general rate. For more information, contact Council's Rural Environment Officer on 9205 2200.

Program review

In 2017, Council started a review of the Agricultural Land Use Rebate to ensure it is the right mechanism to support rural landholders within Hume. There has been several opportunities for landholders to participate in the review and share their feedback on the Agricultural Land Use Rebate and how it could be improved. The review is in its final stages, with final community consultation happening later in 2020. Find out more about the Agricultural Land Use Rebate Review.
