Creating and Making

Creating and Making: Craigieburn Secondary College

An exhibition of works by students from Craigieburn Secondary College, years 7 – 12.

“Art is about exploration, experimentation, invention and risk taking.

Art in education allows students to exercise and develop higher-order thinking skills including analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and problem solving.

Art gives students confidence and a sense of achievement - making art provides a unique life experience.

Art is an expression that transcends conventions of written and verbal language, fostering self-discovery and communication at a sensory and emotional level. “
                                                 -          Fiona Cerni, Arts Coordinator, Craigieburn Secondary College.

This exhibition contains a selection of work by students from the Visual Arts Faculty at Craigieburn Secondary College. The collection aims to share with the wider community a cross-section of work from years 7-12 in a wide range of art-forms.

Class subjects include Visual Communication and Design, Studio Art, Ceramics, Media, Textiles and Creative Art. Themes explored in class include portraiture, rendering, patterns and design, the elements and principles of art and refinement of techniques across different media.

While junior students are introduced to a range of techniques and disciplines, senior students work toward a theme and art form of their choosing. Throughout the year they develop their style and technique within their selected art form to communicate their meaning and intentions.
