Colour Explosion

Colour Explosion brings together five Hume-based artists who use colour to render familiar subjects uncanny.

The artists variously use digital photography and painting techniques to explore the psychological, emotional and spiritual dimensions of colour and depict images inspired by their intuitive responses to botanical and urban life.

Together their work creates a vibrant space that celebrates how exaggerated qualities of colour such as light, shadow, texture and saturation can abstract reality, influence perception, convey emotion and ultimately mediate our internal relationship with the external world.

The exhibition offers gallery visitors the opportunity to experience a range of ways colour can be manipulated in art making through traditional and digital methods, and to reflect on their own relationship with and responses to colour.
