Empty? Donata Uncanin Photographic Exhibition (Broadmeadows)

Donata Uncanin is a photographer from Craigieburn whose photographs are full of both life and stillness.  This exhibition looks at the concept of emptiness in a positive way.  Consisting of photographic studies of natural elements, the exhibition explores the artist’s sense of emptiness.

Donata says:

"This collection started from an empty place. I started taking photographs of empty shells as that was how I felt at the time. However, as the collection grew and I thought more about the concept of emptiness, I started thinking differently about my subject.

Slowly, I started looking at the concept of emptiness in a positive way. Think about it – all items in the collection were alive at one point, or have given life. And even now, when they have no life and so with so little to offer, they serve as an inspiration to me. They let themselves be transferred into lasting art.

This collection depicts my personal transformation that developed throughout its creation process. That is why this is an open collection, which I hope to be adding to for a long time."
