Local artists of all disciplines can apply for up to $3,000 in funding from both the Hume Arts Awards 2020 and COVID-19 Community Grants.

Hume Arts Awards

The Arts Awards aim to showcase and support artists and help their professional development. A total of $20,000 in prize money is available for this funding round. The closing date for applications has been extended to Monday 18 May.

The Awards recognise the achievement of Hume’s talented artists and support costs involved in their arts practice, including further study, training, materials and equipment, professional memberships and travel.

Open to all disciplines – including painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, drawing, music, theatre, dance, printmaking, ceramics, writing, new or mixed media. Any artist who lives in Hume City can apply.

The Awards program provides awards of up to $3,000 per applicant in either of the following two categories:

  • Artist 19 - 30 years in any art form
  • Artist over 30 years in any art form

The Awards program also provides awards of $500 for the following group:

  • Youth 12-18 years in any art form

The Awards support Council's commitment to nurturing a culturally vibrant and connected community, and create an opportunity to celebrate emerging and established artists across Hume City.

COVID-19 Arts Activation Grant

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hume City Council is offering one-off grants designed to support not-for-profit organisations/community groups and individuals to continue to maintain social connections.

Arts Activation Grants are for practicing artists in all disciplines - including (but not limited to) painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, drawing, music, theatre, dance, printmaking, ceramics, writing, new or mixed media - who need to adapt the delivery of their arts practice in new ways whilst adhering to social distancing directives.

Grants of up to $3,000 are available. Applications close 28 August 2020 (or before if funds are exhausted). More information and guidelines can be found here.
