Plan an event
Events come in all different sizes and consist of many different activities ranging from markets and fundraisers to major festivals and events.
Planning an event can be a difficult task, especially if you have never organised an event before. We have created an Events Guide which will assist you with areas from risk and emergency management to toilet hire and what applications and permits are to be submitted.
There are many key indicators in determining when an Events Application Form may be required. Things to consider are:
- Size of the event/activity
- Attendance numbers
- Amount of infrastructure
- Amusements (jumping castles, pony rides, carnival rides etc)
- Fireworks displays
- Impact on environment – traffic, waste, noise etc
- Impact on residents
Council must be informed for all activities and events planned on Council land or on roads in the municipality. If you are unsure about whether your activity requires you to complete an Events Application, contact the Events and Festivals Team.
If your event is on private land, you do not need to complete an Events Application. However other permits may apply from Council (see page 5 of the Events Guide for other permits).
If you plan to hold your event indoors then please refer to the Halls for Hire Brochure 2016 to book a hall.
