Hume Together

Hume Together - Website Image LP.jpg

Everyone’s health and wellbeing is a priority in times like these.

Hume City Council is here for you with regular and essential services, and we’re preparing some new ways to deliver these to you.

That’s why, as we continue to support the wellbeing of the community, we’re excited to launch Hume Together.

Over the coming days, weeks and maybe even months, you’ll start seeing the colour yellow across many of services and the #HumeTogether across our social media channels.

Yellow is the colour of optimism, happiness, energy and joy – which is what we’re striving for with Hume Together

Join the conversation by using the #HumeTogether on social media and help us spread positivity and the wonderful things happening within our community.

Relief for ratespayers, businesses and sporting clubs

Just like we are finding ways for our community to stay connected, we are also finding ways to reduce the pressure on our ratepayers, businesses and sporting clubs:

  • No interest will be charged on the unpaid last instalment of rates (due 31 May 2020) for residential and business ratepayers who have struggled financially due to the coronavirus situation.
  • Council is also working on a grants program for small businesses, leading into the 2020/21 financial year.
  • From 1 March 2020 to 30 June 2020, ground use charges and lease fees will be waived for sporting clubs that have been unable to use and/or operate their sporting grounds due to the coronavirus situation.

Colour Explosion exhibition

We had to close the Colour Explosion exhibition at the Town Hall Broadmeadows due to COVID-19 restrictions, so we've decided to bring the exhibition to you! Click on the photo gallery below to make the images bigger.

Colour Explosion brings together five Hume-based artists who use colour to render familiar subjects uncanny.

The artists variously use digital photography and painting techniques to explore the psychological, emotional and spiritual dimensions of colour and depict images inspired by their intuitive responses to botanical and urban life.

Together their work creates a vibrant space that celebrates how exaggerated qualities of colour such as light, shadow, texture and saturation can abstract reality, influence perception, convey emotion and ultimately mediate our internal relationship with the external world.
