Expressions of Interest are now open for membership to the Friends of Aileu Community Committee. Your efforts will help support the people of Aileu, a rural district of Timor-Leste, in their efforts to achieve a more sustainable and prosperous future.

About Friends of Aileu
In 2000, Hume City Council, along with Moreland City Council, established a Friendship Relationship with Aileu, a region about 50kms south of Dili in East Timor. The Aileu Friendship City demonstrates Council's commitment to social justice and provides an opportunity for Hume's diverse communities to work together to support others experiencing disadvantage and injustice. The Friends of Aileu includes representatives of Council and meets periodically to consider and discuss strategies to support and promote the Friendship City relationship.

The Friends of Aileu Community Committee is a citizen’s committee that:

  • advises Hume City Council and Moreland City Council on their East Timor Partnership Project
  • helps implement the friendship relationship between the two councils and their communities and the Municipal Administration and people of Aileu, Timor-Leste.

Submit your Expression of Interest online now. Applications will be close at 5pm on Wednesday 24 May 2017.
