Newbury scoot, bike and skate comp
A skate park event featuring scooter, BMX and skateboard competitions is set to take place at Craigieburn’s Newbury Skate Park on Sunday 27 November.
Locals can take part in the competitions and will be in the running for regional titles, with the event part of a series of competitions taking place at 10 other skate parks across North West Melbourne.
All workshops and competitions at the event are free and BMX riders, scooter riders or skateboarders of all ages can enter.
Local skateboarders also have the opportunity to find out more about a skills program with the Victorian Skateboard Association, which has been funded through the Hume Community Grants Program.
“The event is a great opportunity for local skateboarders to find out more about improving their skills and progressing through a structured national pathway leading up to skating’s addition to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games,” Hume Mayor Drew Jessop said.
“Additional to the skating pathways program, any interested participant has the opportunity to find out more about running a skate event by volunteering with the YMCA on the day.”
The Newbury round has been brought to life through a partnership between YMCA, Victorian Skateboarding Association and the Hume City Council. Competitors of all ages are invited to participate.
