Draft Gambling Harm Minimisation Policy 2019

In 2018 Hume City Council reviewed its Responsible Gaming Policy. The process included a community gambling survey, workshops with community and gaming industry representatives, an online survey and the analysis of local, State and National data and research.

At its meeting on 27  May 2019, Hume City Council endorsed its Draft Gambling Harm Minimisation Policy 2019 for public comment during the month of June 2019.

The draft policy articulates Council’s public health approach to gambling, including the prevention, reduction and minimisation of gambling harms and risks within Hume’s communities.

The draft policy seeks to:

  • Reduce the negative impacts from gambling
  • Present a clear and consistent approach from Council on gambling related matters
  • Increase community awareness of the risks associated with gambling
  • Strengthen actions with others to address gambling harms and to maximise benefits directly back to communities.

The draft policy will be placed on public exhibition until 1 July 2019. You can view the document here.
