Elmhurst Park - Proposed Park Improvements

In October 2017 Council invited feedback from the community on improvements to Elmhurst Park. Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas and gave feedback through the surveys, online and at the pop up sessions. Over 250 people shared their ideas.

The improvements that were most important to participants were:

  • a public toilet
  • additional park furniture
  • enhanced skate area
  • designated dogs off leash area

Participants were largely supportive of a public toilet, proposed to be located near Elmhurst Road, providing it would be locked at night and regularly maintained. There was a strong response for picnic facilities to be in a central location, with enough picnic tables that can be used by families. There was consistent feedback on enhancing the existing skate park area, catering for beginner and intermediate users. Feedback was largely supportive of a fenced dog off leash area, to be located in the proposed position near the rear of the park. The majority of participants preferred the playspace to stay in the existing location, being near amenities including the carpark and tennis club.

The most commonly requested activities for the new playspace were:

  • swings
  • slides
  • climbing items

A concept plan, based on community feedback, can be found here. It is anticipated works will commence in the second half of 2018.
